The microscopic world has always fascinated me.
I remember well a childhood experience of looking through a National Geographic magazine.
The images presented to me were those of a pin head, magnified by x1000.
The images of the rounded steel, depicted not a sharpened point,
but contours and abrasions which served to indicate a visual history of the object.
They opened my eyes to a world beyond my immediate reach
and instilled in me long lasting desire to explore that which lay beyond my immediate senses.
